Reinhart Öhlinger is an Austrian self-taught photographer with a background in history. His photographic practice explores the relationship between place, architecture, and human presence, with a particular focus on Austria’s cultural and architectural heritage.
He is especially drawn to sacred architecture and the contemplative, transcendent atmosphere of religious spaces. Through his photography, Öhlinger seeks to reveal the emotional and spiritual dimensions of these places, capturing moments in which light, space, and silence come together.
Another recurring theme in his work is the interaction between people and the built environment. In urban spaces, he observes how architecture shapes human experience and how individuals, often only momentarily, become part of the visual and social fabric of a place.
